When Your Pediatrician Blows You Off

With my first daughter, I was assigned a pediatrician who had the smallest patient load. That’s who the HMO gave me so that’s who I took. Study Shows Most Bullied Kids are Overweight

This fascinating new study reveals that overweight children are typically a bully’s prime targets. While you might not consider this “breaking news,” it is very revealing in that it shows that kids who are picked on avoid situations where they are bullied, such as gyms, playgrounds, and other sporting events. The very places children go to burn off calories. According to the study, roughly one out of every five children is chronically bullied, and in most cases repeated teasing and taunting leads to depression and loneliness. The Trouble With Weight Charts

In the UK, there is considerable pressure being placed to get rid of the 20 year old weight charts and use more up to date weight charts that are reflective of babies who drink breast milk. The 20 year old charts are based on formula fed babies who tend to grow more quickly than do breastfed babies. But the weight chart problem is not one that is strictly related to the UK.
