Star Baby News—-Who’s Welcoming a New Addition in 2008

Last month rumors were swirling that Matt Damon’s former “Good Will Hunting” co-star and ex-girlfriend Minnie Driver was due to give birth to her first baby this summer. While the actress’ camp remains mum about the news, the New York Post has decided to spread the good word claiming the rumor is indeed fact and reports its “spies” recently spotted Driver and a friend outside a Los Angeles-area doctor’s office looking at sonogram pictures. The 37-year-old star of “A Socialite’s Life” is reportedly keeping the identity of the father under wraps, though some tabloids are saying that Driver’s current English … Continue reading

Hey Baby: Let’s Talk

Your baby is never too young for you to talk to. In fact, whether they are verbal with you or not, talking to them is very good for their social, mental and emotional development. Conversations When my daughter was a baby, I used to talk to her all the time. I didn’t just go the baby talk route (though believe me, I did plenty of that too). I used to ask my baby what I should fix for dinner, what book did I want to buy and even better – what pair of shoes looked better. More often than not, … Continue reading

It is time for the weekly Genealogy Podcast Roundup. This is where to find the newest episodes of your favorite genealogy podcasts. Christmas music is a very traditional part of how many families celebrate Christmas. NPR has an episode of “Morning … Continue reading

Words Only A Mother Could Understand

I used to think moms were just pretending to understand their babbling toddlers. Even though the order and repetition of their gibberish made it sound like they were attempting real words, I couldn’t figure out what they were saying. Ironically enough, now that my own son is learning to talk, I almost always understand what he is saying. To me, his words are clear, and I didn’t realize until recently that other people cannot understand what he is saying most of the time. They are probably thinking I am just pretending to understand him! The difference is context. It really … Continue reading

“Someday”

“Someday” is the name of a book my mom gave to me when I was first pregnant. The simple, yet poignant story is written by Alison McGhee, an award winning author, and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds, who also illustrated Megan McDonald’s “Judy Moody” series. The book is only forty pages, full of illustrations, with only a handwritten line or two on each page, but it speaks volumes to my heart. As a mother and a daughter, I found this book to be incredibly beautiful. From the very first line I could tell it was going to make me tear … Continue reading

Parents in Denial: Pool Pregnancy

You know you are a parent in denial when… You insist that your 13-year-old daughter got pregnant from swimming in a hotel pool—-ALONE! No parent wants to think that his or her child is anything less than perfect, but Magdalena Kwiatkowska may want to consider taking off the blinders for a split second before proceeding with her recently filed bizarre lawsuit. Kwiatkowska says she was forced to hire a lawyer upon returning with her daughter from a lavish holiday at an upscale hotel in Egypt. Apparently, the family returned home with more than a few shiny trinkets from the souvenir … Continue reading

Lance Armstrong Defies Odds Again

The words “super” and “sperm” come to mind right about now. If you haven’t already heard cycling champ Lance Armstrong and his girlfriend Anna Hansen are expecting their first child together. Ordinarily, this type of star baby news would garner a few lines under the “milestones” portion of celebrity rags, but not with Armstrong. The uber athlete, who won seven straight Tour de France crowns after battling testicular cancer, is back on the front page of major publications because of his superior swimmers. According to Armstrong’s handlers, the superhuman cyclist, who has the lung capacity of a whale, has defied … Continue reading

Family News: Madonna & Guy, Nicole and Keith, and Ashlee and Pete

Although rumors of divorce and Madonna seeing NY Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez have been swirling, the whole family – Madonna, Guy, and children Lourdes, Rocco, and David – were seen at a Kabbalah service on July 5th at New York City’s Kabbalah Centre in Midtown Manhattan. Madonna showed up with wet hair and large black studded sunglasses. She sat apart from Guy during the service, but don’t read much into that. It is the custom in Kabbalah for the woman to sit on the women’s side of the aisle. The children too sat with Madonna. Ritchie joined the family after … Continue reading

Celebrity Weekend Round Up—Big Parties For Big Stars

All that dancing finally paid off… Laila Ali waltzed her way through a picture perfect wedding to retired NFL star Curtis Conway in L.A. last night. According to news reports, the boxing champ and former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant said “I do” in front of 200 guests, including her famous father, Muhammad Ali. The bridal party was reportedly a family affair with Laila’s sister serving as a bridesmaid and Conway’s 12-year-old twin sons acting as ring bearers while his 8-year-old daughter served as the flower girl. Regular “Dancing” fans heard a lot about the preparations being made for the … Continue reading
