Baby Shower Day

I haven’t said it before but I’ll say it now: it’s raining babies! Not literally, of course, but babies are coming at us from everywhere. I’m certain this just generally happens after a period of time, when all of the family members of two households become of marrying age. It’s inevitable and it’s wonderful. Children are everywhere. Maternity wear is everywhere I look and growing belly’s are expanding to fill them. It’s a wonderful time to be alive. Not only are we expecting our second child but my sister-in-law is expecting as well. As we’ve finally returned back near our … Continue reading

Planning a Baby Shower

I am in the midst of planning a baby shower for my younger sister (she’s only eighteen months younger); she is fifteen weeks further along than I am. The planning began before I was pregnant, but it was more of collecting ideas phase. As I entered my first trimester and with the onset of morning sickness, the planning halted. I tried having a few conversations with my sister about my ideas but it was just too stressful anticipating all the work it would be. Now that I am finally emerging from the cloud of morning sickness, I am ready to … Continue reading

(4) Calling home to check on the babysitter every 15 minutes or so. (5) Wanting to talk about the baby during a night out. (6) Wanting to talk about anything but … Continue reading

Coordinating Invites and Gifts

Primary teacher gift boxes It is so fun when I have an opportunity to use my scrapbooking supplies for things other than scrapbooking. This past month I was able to make invitations to a dinner at church and create coordinating gift boxes (filled with candy) for each of the people in attendance at the dinner. Everyone seemed to like the invites and gift boxes, so I thought I would share my little project with you. The Invitation (I appoligize for the paint blob in the center of this one. Baby Showers – The History and Evolution of Gift Giving

Baby showers are a popular way of celebrating the impending arrival of a new baby. However, baby showers for the expectant mother are actually a relatively modern invention made possible by modern medicine. Originally, baby showers were not given for expectant mothers.
