Here is a list of the most common vaccinations given along with the recommended ages of when children should receive them. It is a vaccination schedule you can print and take with you to your pediatrician’s office. When Being Sick Is Not An Option

What do you dread more?  Dealing with a sick kid or running a household while running a fever and to the toilet every few minutes? When my daughter was an infant she got violently ill.  In a moment of utter fatigue and desperation, I tried bargaining with her doctor.  I offered him all of my appendages in exchange for a cure for my child.  I wanted to alleviate her pain at any cost, even if it meant dismembering my own body. It’s a scenario most parents can relate to; we’d rather be the ones suffering than see our children in … Continue reading

The All-or-Nothing Person

I don’t know if you can relate to this, but I tend to be an all-or-nothing kind of person.  Although this can be a good trait, for the most part it stands in the way.  This is especially true with fitness.  Thankfully I am learning to overcome this mentality. Here is what the all-or-nothing person looks like.  You intend to start up an exercise program on Monday.  But something happens and your schedule for the day gets screwed up. The all-or-nothing person’s response isn’t “I will just start on Tuesday.”  No, they decide to wait until the following Monday. Here … Continue reading

Anger: It’s Not Worth It

I’ve been rather irritated with the world lately. It feels like there is never any justice. Bad people get away with things they shouldn’t. They constantly take advantage of others and get away with it. I’ve felt that way a lot with my ex lately. He walks all over me, and frankly I let him because I am so afraid of contention. I convince myself that one of these days I am going to stand up to him and say “no,” but when it comes down to it I usually give in anyways. Being taken advantage of isn’t very fun. … Continue reading

Schedule Yourself A Happy Holiday Season

It is that time of year again, time for everyone who works at home to get out their calendars and make sure that they plan ahead for a successful holiday season. With all of the family gatherings and other fun things that you want to do within the next couple of months, it is easy to get distracted from your work. However, if deadlines get missed or work piles up into an overwhelmingly large work load, you might not be feeling so merry or bright. By planning ahead for work and play, you can set yourself up for a successful … Continue reading

Providing Stability Through Schedules

By far one of the most difficult things you will face as you are going through the divorce process is the issue of parent time, formerly known as visitation. It is important to have this spelled out in your decree because it will save you the trouble of fighting over it later. Just because you agree on something at the time of the divorce doesn’t mean that someone won’t change their mind later. If it’s not in writing, there is nothing binding you to that agreement and you are in for a real mess down the line. Having a set … Continue reading

Schedule Everything!

I never realized how important a schedule was until I was a mom. When I became a single mother I found that schedules were even more important than I thought, and not just for Hailey, for me too. I soon discovered in the first months of craziness that is single parenting that I could not get a thing done. Laundry would be washed but not folded, dinner cooked but not cleaned up, grocery lists made but forgotten. Everything quickly got out of hand. I had to get my home life under control so I could make sure that Hailey and … Continue reading

Another Day Another Way To Be Thankful For Home Based Work

It seems like every day, I find new reasons to be thankful that I work from home. Since every day in my life as a stay at home mom is slightly different, I have the opportunity to see my situation as a home – based professional from many different angles. Today, my observations in this area consist of two primary sentiments. Today’s first reason that I am thankful to be a home – based professional comes from my experience as a lawyer. I am thankful that as the owner of my own tiny little law firm, I am in control … Continue reading

My House Is Not Clean

Do you have a method to your housekeeping or is it more hit or miss? I’m totally a hit or miss housekeeper. My house stays fairly neat but the cleaning is not on any type of schedule. If I walk into a room I might notice the baseboards need to be dusted and dust them. The furniture in that room will most likely not get dusted at the same time. Or maybe I notice fingerprints on the bathroom door. I’ll wipe those down but that doesn’t mean I will clean the bathroom. In the morning when I’m brushing my teeth … Continue reading

The Shift To Summer Schedules Is Coming

Many home – based professional parents are able to work the hours that they do because their children go to school. However, school is not a year – round activity. When summer comes, home – based professional parents must decide what they would like to do with their work schedule. Sometimes, it is possible for a parent to scale back their work during the summer months so that they can spend a lot of time with their children. There’s also the option of hiring a babysitter or a parent’s helper to take care of the kids for a few hours … Continue reading
