This is a fast way to find out about the blogs that you might have missed when they were first posted. The Special Needs Podcast Roundup went up on July 2, 2012. This week, I’d like to point out an episode of The Coffee Klatch podcast. The episode is called “The Best of the Coffee Klatch – Sensory Processing Disorder”. The episode features Dr. Lucy Miller, author of “Sensational Kids: Hope and … Continue reading

The Toddler Personality – A Multifacted Gem

Have you ever simply sat back and watched as your toddler interacted with other people? I had several opportunities to do that today, and I really enjoyed it. From the moment that they are born, our children reveal to us a little bit more each day about who they are. Spending time around other people enables your toddler to show you different facets of his personality than he does when he’s at home with you. For example, I took Dylan to story time at our local library this morning. Two of his friends were there too, and they all love … Continue reading

The Spirited Child – Personality Plus

Many parents read parenting books to gain awareness and find advice on how to raise their toddlers. There are a wide variety of parenting books out there, and it is important to remember that not all of them will contain information that is helpful or a good fit for your family. Parenting is such a highly personal thing, in fact I would venture to say that how a family decides to raise their children is one of the most deeply personal choices that they will ever make. It’s not a one time thing, either. Parenting choices are made on a … Continue reading

Some Personality

It was like this with both of my babies. Before their birth I tried to imagine what kind of personality they would have while trying very hard to enjoy every minute of each pregnancy (it goes fast). With my daughter I wondered if she would be like her brother. Watching my son’s and now my daughter’s personality blossom is something I anticipated and truly enjoy to see. My son’s personality is pretty clear at this “toddler” stage in his life. He is out going, happy, very interested in playing musical instruments. He does every thing with flair and animation. His … Continue reading

Should You Go Into Business With Someone?

One thing that a person who is thinking of starting a home – based business may be thinking about as they go through the process of designing the business is whether to go into business alone or with other people. The decision is not always an easy one, and it does of course depend upon many factors. The following are a couple of suggestions to get you started on thinking about this very important topic. It is certainly not an exhaustive list, and anyone who is setting up a business should be sure to think through a major decision such … Continue reading

My Split Personality When It Comes to Chores

It has become a joke in my house about my split personality when it comes to chores. Depending on the season and sometimes the day, I may either be demanding that others help, I play the role of a martyr or I just feel like doing it all. When I demand that others help, it often comes out of left field. It’s as if I suddenly realize how overwhelmed I am and how little everyone has been helping. It doesn’t usually come out in a nice way. If I play the role of a martyr, I mutter and complain under … Continue reading

Something Important to Look for in Teen Dating

This week my family celebrated my stepmother’s birthday at a restaurant. I asked my daughter if she would like to have her boyfriend join us, which of course she did. It has been my goal to take advantage of any opportunity to get to know him. Now this isn’t the norm, I realize. Most of the time when teens are dating, the parents are kind of on the outside trying to look in. Not this mom. I am an involved (please don’t mistake it for smothering) parent. The great thing is that my daughter has absolutely no problem with this. … Continue reading

Scrap a Header for Your Blog

There are so many people out there with scrapbooking blogs. Hundreds. I would venture to say there are thousands. The web is amazing. Many of these blogs are for sharing layouts, creating challenges, starting up a scrapbooking business, or a mix of scrapbooking and personal blogging. Whatever your scrapbook blog might be, you can add some personality to it by scrapping your own header for your blog. I have used free templates for my blog that you can find all over the web, but I was never quite happy with how they looked. But, I didn’t want to have to … Continue reading

The Teacher / Educating Personality Type

The “Teacher / Educating” Personality Type, or the ENFJ personality type, describes a person who is an Extrovert (E), who perceives the world through their Intuition (N), who relies on their Feelings (F) about the people and circumstances involved in a given situation as a basis for decision making, and who views the world from the vantage point of Judgement (J). If you are an extrovert, you enjoy interacting with the outside world around you, as well as the people in it. You thrive from this interaction, and very much prefer it to being alone with your own thoughts. You … Continue reading

The Supervising / Enforcing Personality Type

The “Supervising / Enforcing” Personality Type, or the ESTJ personality type, describes a person who is an Extrovert (E), who perceives the world through Sensing (S), who relies on Thinking (T) to problem solve and make decisions, and who views the world from the vantage point of Judgement (J). If you are an extrovert, you enjoy interacting with the outside world around you, as well as the people in it. You thrive from this interaction, and very much prefer it to being alone with your own thoughts. You like to use your five senses to identify what the facts of … Continue reading
