Organizing Baby’s Closet

One of my most dreaded tasks as a parent is dealing with clothes. I hate washing, folding, and putting them away, but I also hate the inevitable rotation that is required for baby clothes. They outgrow stuff so quickly, that it seems I am constantly organizing, and re-organizing baby clothes. What makes this task even more daunting is when you feel compelled to hang on to baby’s clothes in the event you might have another baby of the same sex. It all just exhausts me. I recently had to clean out my baby’s very tiny closet. We don’t have a … Continue reading

Back to School & Baby

This past week marked back to school for my oldest. I will miss having her around! She is such a big help to me in so many ways. She keeps her 3 year old brother entertained, and is always willing to help out with her baby brother too. Sometimes, she will climb into his crib in the morning to play with him. She will always go into wherever he might be fussing if I am in the middle of something if I ask her to and entertain him for a few minutes. She can make him smile like no other … Continue reading

Pulling Up

My little guy has started pulling up. I do not like this stage of child development. I know it is a crucial one, but I just don’t like all the bumps and bruises that come along with it. About 2 weeks ago, he did it for the first time. His car seat was sitting on the floor and he crawled over to it, grabbed the sides, and was in a standing position. I thought, “Uh oh. I hope this is a fluke.” But, it wasn’t. Now, there is no stopping him. Today, he tried pulling up on the couch twice … Continue reading

Creating a Nursery that Will Grow with Your Baby

When I compare a photo of my son’s room before he was born with what I see before my eyes today, I am surprised at how much it has changed. There are several things we had to change as he got older. We did not anticipate how much storage we would need once we started accumulating toys and clothes, nor did we anticipate his ability to get into the storage we did have and make a huge mess. Next time we build a nursery, we’ll be able to take what we learned from adapting our son’s room and apply it … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Stuff…Spring Cleaning Time

We’ve had a few sunny days here and I can hear the birds getting revved up and chirping their little heads off outside the windows while I try to work. As the sun comes streaming through the windows I can’t help but notice the “stuff” of living that calls out to be purged now that Spring is promising to lend a new lease on life. It makes me think about how we manage (or mismanage) our “stuff” and how family life can get incredibly bogged down with clutter and things… I have a confession to make, earlier this week, I … Continue reading
