Twelve Months Post Partum: An Exercising Journey Part III

With weeks and weeks of post partum exercise in the bag, I was feeling pretty good about my progress and continued motivation to get the pregnancy weight off quickly.  I had set goal dates to be back down to my pre pregnancy weight (after my son but before my daughter) and my pre pre pregnancy weight (before both babies).  Even though I was making progress, I was losing weight and my muscles were getting toned,  my goal dates came and went without being met.  Feeling more than a little frustrated, I set new goal dates and switched up my post … Continue reading

Fifteen Weeks Post Partum

At twelve weeks post partum I wrote about being stuck in a rut of sorts. While my muscles were getting toned and my clothes were starting to fit again, I was not losing any weight. I made some changes by watching what I was eating more closely and keeping track of my food intake with my food journal. The biggest change has been cutting back on sweets. What I discovered was that I was going way over my breastfeeding caloric needs. I was eating when I was not hungry because whatever it was that I was eating tasted good e.g. … Continue reading

Losing the Pregnancy Weight Part IV

Exercising is always a challenge but it seems to be more difficult during the post partum period of a woman’s life. There are so many things to which we as new mother’s are adjusting. It is not an easy transition even if the motivation is there. I began preparing myself for the post partum phase from the very beginning of my pregnancy. I knew that regular exercise and a healthy holistic diet through out my pregnancy would prepare me for the post partum fitness transition. It was my goal to bounce back as quickly as possible. Once my daughter was … Continue reading

The Seventh and Eighth Weeks Post Partum

Seven weeks out from my daughter’s birth, I seemed to have hit a bit of a rut. While I am still feeling great, my sweets intake has increased due to recent celebrations and my motivation to exercise seems to be dwindling a little bit too. My diet started veered off course when I put together a party for my daughter’s baptism. I made the famous red velvet cupcakes. They were both tasty and calorie heavy especially with the cream cheese frosting. After that I made my thanksgiving pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread, using the sweet pumpkins I had processed and … Continue reading

Our Daughter’s Baptism Part III

With the house clean and the food mostly prepared (the Caesar salad would be thrown together while the Shepherd’s Pie is baking in the oven), I turned my attention to ironing the baptismal gown. I got this particular gown for my son’s baptism over two years ago and it had only been worn once after that, three months ago, by my goddaughter. I had spent a couple of days trying to get a some yellow spots out of the gown and finally succeeded with a bleach stick and a thorough washing. Now the cotton gown with pearl embellishments needed a … Continue reading

Our Daughter’s Baptism Part II

Preparations continued the next day for the celebration of our daughter’s upcoming baptism in the evening. I woke earlier than normal in anticipation for all that needed to take place. I wanted to start the day on a positive note and for me that meant with a quick breakfast, a gruelling workout, and a much needed shower. Once these three things were successfully completed, I was able to move on to the real preparations of the day. The first task was to make the dessert, which for me is the most important element of any celebration! I had decided to … Continue reading

Losing the Pregnancy Weight Part III

Burning calories is some what intangible. I really have no idea how many calories I am burning each day by breast feeding my daughter. I would like to give credit to a healthier diet and a commitment to long term exercise for my seemingly quicker come back from having my daughter. Having these habits in the beginning really do make a difference. At almost five weeks post-partum I have not actively worked at loosing the excess weight for very long. My efforts have just begun and I am determined to get closer to my pre-pre pregnancy weight (what I weighted … Continue reading

The Skinny Jeans

At seven weeks post partum, I was itching for a new pair of jeans. After wearing the same maternity skinny jeans for over six weeks post partum, I was more than ready to put those jeans away with the rest of my maternity clothes. I have been exercising nearly every day for the last three weeks. Even though I am not back into all my pre-pregnancy clothes, all but one pair of my pre-pregnancy jeans fit again, which in my mind justified a new pair of jeans and not just any jeans; a pair of well fitting dark wash skinny … Continue reading
