Keeping Kids Busy Indoors

It has been breathtakingly cold outside this year. This year we have hit record low temperatures here in Utah, in fact, we had our first experience with freezing rain this week. These below freezing temperatures have got the kids cooped up inside all day, every day, and if they’re anything like mine, they’re starting to get a bad case of cabin fever! But don’t worry, we’re here to save the day, because we have lots of ideas to keep kids happy indoors and out! Something Logan and I have decided to do this year is to make a list of … Continue reading

A Busy Guy Part II

My two year old, who is almost three, is a really busy guy his non stop energy is …. well non stop! After a very busy morning of running around the house, jumping on the couch or his bed or my bed (I put a stop to that really quickly), dancing to music, playing in the sink with the claim that he is washing his hands, we begin our very busy afternoon with lunch. He will usually sit down to eat his lunch but in a matter of minutes he is up doing the next thing. Since it has been … Continue reading

A Busy Guy

My son is a busy guy. His day begins when ever he wakes up (like most kids) usually around eight in the morning. Sometimes he will climb into our bed with some toys and play which always involves playing with his baby sister. Rousing us (the parents) at eight in the morning is sometimes difficult given how late we end up going to bed, but he does a fairly good job by climbing on us and typically putting his feet, knees, elbows, or hands in our faces. Now that he is potty trained, he will need to use the potty … Continue reading

Keeping Baby Busy

Since I have a fussier than normal baby, it is also more difficult to keep him happy when he is not in my arms. We have a myriad of contraptions that he is starting to grow into like the bouncy chair, saucer, and swing. We also have a playmat on the floor that has toys that hang over his head. Yesterday, he managed to bounce himself in the bouncer for a good 15 minutes. I was thrilled! It gave me time to fold some laundry. My older kids are big helpers too. I frequently ask them to “go play with … Continue reading

Keeping Up Treatments During the Hectic Holidays

The holidays are fast approaching which means parties and festivities galore. I’m avoiding any hosting duties this year because I’ll be having a baby in the beginning of December (perfect excuse right?). But what I am trying to figure it out is how I will make sure to get Maggie’s CF treatments done, especially the nightly ones. With so much going on, and a new baby who may or may not need treatments of her own, I need to have a plan. Making a List (and Checking it Twice). Besides the Christmas list for Maggie and her baby sister, I’ll … Continue reading

Baby Kicks

Feeling your baby move for the first time is a moment you’ll never forget. The first time I felt my son move around, I was only 13 weeks along, which is pretty early. Typically, you should feel your baby move between 16 and 25 weeks of pregnancy. It felt like someone had let a bumble bee loose in my abdomen, and he was bumping into the walls of my belly. As he grew, he started to feel like someone was flicking me. Flicks grew to kicks, which could be seen from the outside. Kicks became rolls as he outgrew his … Continue reading

Thanksgiving Meal Ideas on How to Include Baby

With a little one at Thanksgiving, the term kiddie table can take on a completely different significance. Babies are wonderful to have at Thanksgiving, a holiday that is all about family and being grateful for our blessings. Including a baby, toddler or preschooler in the Thanksgiving meal is important, and it can bring a lot of joy to the day. Of course, babies can also present certain challenges to the meal, especially if you are busy hosting and preparing it at your home. Don’t worry, though. I’ve been through it all before, and I have a few tips to share … Continue reading
