Most of us have gone shopping with the baby in toe and we know it comes with its own special set of needs and responsibilities. So let us dive in on the discussion to make Christmas shopping with your baby successful for both of you and to reduce the amount of stress either one of you might undergo. When it comes to Christmas shopping here are some tips to making it go easier on both of you:
Choose Your Own Time Try to avoid shopping during the busiest portion of the shopping day - early mornings and late evenings are best. It's also better to not be out shopping during the time your baby would naturally be taking a nap. It makes your day and your baby's day more comfortable to avoid the grouchy and grumpy times when your baby really wants to be sleeping. Take Your Own Pen Carry your own pen. Most stores offer you a pen to sign your credit card slip or write a check and it's been handled by dozens of others. The store pen is a friend to a virus that wants to be transmitted all over the place. By carrying your own pen, you can eliminate how often the virus may be transmitted. You might want to carry some sanitizing wrap or gel with you to wash your hands frequently, that way you aren't passing anything to your baby. Don't Let Everyone Touch the Baby You want to avoid how many people reach out to your baby naturally, but Christmas brings out the warm spirit and the need to reach out and stroke a cheek or shake a hand. You want to avoid this for the same reason you bring a pen along. You want to limit how many viruses your little one comes into contact with and limiting the contact can also limit how over stimulated your baby will become. Group Your Shopping Stops By grouping your shopping stops, you can make your shopping trips more efficient and limit how often you are taking baby in and out of the car. Many babies can't stand the constant back and forth and will begin to rebel and get cranky over the constant disruption. It also makes it easier for you to get things done in a limited time frame. Avoid Bad Weather Rain, snow, sleet and the rest are very messy and it can make loading items into and out of the vehicle difficult. It can also make it harder on your baby. Not to mention getting wet, cold and sloppy is never pleasant. So do yourselves a favor and avoid it if possible.
