When It Gets Too Much

Having a new baby is intense. Especially when it's your first child, there's a need there that you've never experienced before. You're needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no end in sight. In the beginning, when you're recovering from birth, you are very tired.

And now for a lesson I learned the hard way: keep those night nursing sessions short and to the point, unless you want to lose a lot of sleep. It's completely normal for babies to wake during the night, don't let any "expert" tell you otherwise.

I may have to buy a pair of earplugs if I want to protect myself from hearing loss. My 4-month-old has recently discovered that he can scream. He screams so loud, it feels like your ear drums are going to pop.

This morning, as I was caressing the cheek of my youngest child, I was in awe at how soft it was. The expression soft as a baby's bottom is said for a reason. Baby skin is amazingly smooth and glowing. But that doesn't mean that baby skin isn't prone to problems.
