twins If you are expecting twins or just dreaming about them, congratulations! what a special moment it is to be thinking about names for twins. I think naming twins might be more difficult than picking out a name for a singleton. You want to make sure that the names can flow together, since the twins will probably be referred together for their entire lives. At the same time, you want to choose names that will reflect the fact that your twins are individual people.

So how can you choose a great set of names for twins? Keep reading because I'll share some strategies for naming twins.

Usually when naming twins, most people choose two names that have alliteration, the same beginning sounds or at least the same first letter, such as Jacob and Joshua or Matthew and Michael. Another way to do it is to have names that share beginning and ending sounds. Ella and Emma is a good example of this, and so is Taylor and Tyler. Interestingly enough, Taylor and Tyler were in the top ten twin names (according to the U.S. Department of Social Security) for both two girl twins and one boy one girl twins.

Many of the most popular twin name pairs have at least one very popular name by itself. So for example, Emma tops the list or girls names, and it also appears in the top with twin names. Combinations with Emma include the Ella and Emma mentioned above, but also Emma and Ethan, Emma and Jacob, and Emma and William.

Another thing that is interesting about naming twins, and the most popular twin names is that parents are more likely to choose names that don't sound the same when the twins are of different sexes or when the twins are both boys. Parents who have twin girls are most likely to choose names that compliment each other with similar sounds.

I love twins! I think if I had twins I would name them something that sounded similar but not confusing. They want to be linked together but have separate identities. Very fun article. :) Maternity Pregnancy
