These days all you need to create eye-popping page designs that look like a million bucks is a computer and printer. If you are working with a strict budget and can’t afford to run out and purchase new scrapbook elements for each new layout, let the Internet be your assistant. Organizing Baby’s Closet

One of my most dreaded tasks as a parent is dealing with clothes. I hate washing, folding, and putting them away, but I also hate the inevitable rotation that is required for baby clothes. They outgrow stuff so quickly, that it seems I am constantly organizing, and re-organizing baby clothes. What makes this task even more daunting is when you feel compelled to hang on to baby’s clothes in the event you might have another baby of the same sex. It all just exhausts me. I recently had to clean out my baby’s very tiny closet. We don’t have a … Continue reading

Scrapbooks Made Easy

I am a huge fan of Shutterfly albums. While some call them an insult to scrapbooks, when you are in a hurry or simply don’t have the creative juices to craft a traditional memory album, the hardcover digitally generated books featuring your favorite photos and journaling, simply can’t be beat. I like to refer to the albums as scrapbooks made easy. You simply can’t fail when crafting the digital albums, as the directions are a cinch to follow and the actual steps are short and sweet. Several companies offer these types of books, including Shutterfly and Snapfish, which have designed … Continue reading

Safe Housekeeping During Pregnancy

When you are pregnant, you may find yourself suddenly motivated to clean more than you usually do. Of course, you may not, and that is also perfectly normal. I never experienced an overwhelming urge to clean house during either of my pregnancies, although I did clean a little more than normal during my second pregnancy. Cleaning during pregnancy is not harmful in and of itself. When the urge to clean strikes, be careful about what products you use to clean, and about some of the chores that you choose to tackle. If you have been bitten by the housekeeping bug, … Continue reading

Baby Buying On A Budget

Now that you are pregnant, you are probably thinking about what you will need to have on hand to take care of your baby’s needs once you bring him home. If you are on a tight budget, you may wonder if you will be able to meet all of baby’s needs because there is so much advertising out there that could lead a person to believe that they need to buy many different items in order to be ready to care for their new arrival. The truth is that babies, especially brand new ones, need very little in the way … Continue reading

Hints for Baby Scrapbooks

In a previous post I detailed some of the elements I used in a baby-themed scrapbook I worked on with a friend. We created the book on a $5 budget and the results look like a million bucks. Fortunately, my friend owns a professional grade printer and we were able to use a ton of free printables in order to keep costs down. What many scrappers may not realize is that they can actually print an entire baby-themed memory album from the Internet for free. Whereas we just printed individual worksheets and other free digital embellishments, there are sites where … Continue reading

Best Books for Baby

Books open up a new world. The concept is not lost on a baby or toddler. Little ones love to explore through books. I remember when my children were little and would sit and look through board books for what seemed like hours. Having a chubby little hand place the same book in your lap night after night is one of the joys of parenting. Board books are wonderful since they fit nicely in little hands and can stand up to abuse. The selections of board books are growing from classics to beautifully interactive books. I always have a hard … Continue reading

Baby Books: Who can keep up?

Scrapbooking is a wonderful way to express your creativity and keep treasured memories in reach. It encompasses two things I love; creative expression and photography. The marriage of the two is genius and one that will last a lifetime. Or so I thought. As much as I loved scrapbooking , I had no time to commit to the projects I wanted to complete. I have never finished a Christmas page, a birthday page or a baby page and my oldest is 13 years old. I love the idea but time prevents me from expressing my creativity with craft scissors, embellishments, … Continue reading

A Monthly Baby Layout

Some of my most precious pages that I have scrapbooked are of my children. I want to do an album of each of my kids’ first year of life to give to them one day. In those albums, I like to do a monthly layout about my child and what they are doing at that time. I always title the page, with the month that I am scrapbooking. For example, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, etc. One of my all-time favorite layouts was one I did of my daughter when she was 9 months old. I do not always … Continue reading
