Thoughts on Dressing Baby

Isn’t dressing up your little one a blast? Every outfit looks adorable when it’s a foot long. There are no rules when it comes to dressing your baby, either. Do you want your baby dressed up like a cowboy? That’s okay! Will she wear her princess pajamas to daycare? Babies can wear jammies whenever they want; no one minds. Shoes are adorable, but always optional for non-walkers. The only requirement for baby clothes is that they are soft on baby’s sensitive skin. Some of the baby clothes on the racks these days are so soft, I wish I could wear … Continue reading

Baby Slings for Your Preschooler’s Dolls

My daughter loves her dollies. I am proud to say that she also loves her Lego, planes, fire trucks and her parking garage. A well-balanced kid, she is. Last weekend, we got lovely and loving stares at a craft fair as she cradled yet another doll with a homemade knitted sweater. The ladies at the craft fair looked on with little smiles on their faces. Yes, I caved and bought it for her. Of course, her dolls require accessories. I bowed to her desire for a cradle and she used her allowance to buy a large, lined basket. She has … Continue reading

Make a Baby Sling for Your Toddler

I’m a lazy crafter, I have to admit. I really am. I work part time at a nature center where I do crafts with children. Having a child myself has really made me really how much art is about the process. It’s in this spirit that I present to you a few ideas for making a toy baby sling. If I can do it, anyone can! Why make a toy baby sling? Well, as your baby grows, she is going to want to haul her own dolls around. If you have children close together, as the first becomes a toddler, … Continue reading

Jambo (Hello) to a New Line of Six Character Dolls Who were Adopted

In Friday’s blog, promised that I would do a positive blog on dolls. Last year, I wrote about dolls for kids of different ethnicities in my blog Toys and Dolls for Multicultural Families. This year I can share with you some doll characters with different family constellations. Jambo Kids are school-age dolls. They are soft-bodied dolls about 12 inches high. A book is available for each doll. The website tells a little bit about each of the … Continue reading

Are Reborn Babies Scary and Harmful?

I have to tread lightly on this topic, because the whole thing is a little disturbing to me. Lifelike baby dolls, dubbed Reborn Babies or a Reborn Baby, started out being made and traded by a handful of enthusiasts in the United Kingdom.
