Lunch time was a the most hectic part of the girls’ play date. They all wanted to eat at once, which is no great surprise when three infants are involved. After the initial tumbling introductions, the girls begin to play… but not with each other. The girls were all clad in cute girly attire and new shoes. My sister’s daughter, who is the oldest at fourteen months, just got her first pair of sparkly tennis shoes two weeks prior to our playdate. A Playdate with Exercise

As the summer heats up, we have been scheduling our play dates earlier in the day if they involve being outside in the heat. This past week the temperatures reached highs of just over one hundred degrees but we were able to avoid the discomfort of such high temperatures by going out early in the morning. A Child’s Self Esteem and the Frugal Life

My daughter came home the other day from a doll playdate. The girls all brought their 18-inch dolls, you know the American Girl Doll kind. My daughter does have a real American Girl Doll, given to her on her birthday after more than four years on her wish list and some creative saving. She is fond of that doll, and has never once complained about the fact that it is her only one (it is not unusual for her peers to have three or four of these dolls as well as all of the accessories). The Fire Truck Part I

Like most boys, my three year old son has a somewhat obsessive interest in big trucks. On trash days, he runs to the door to watch the garbage trucks as they make stops along our street picking up and emptying the trash cans. He is always the first to point out the yellow school buses whether he spots one while we are driving or if one drives past our house. Lakeside Fun

There is nothing more picturesque than spending the day at a lake. In my hometown we happen to have a lake right in the middle of the city. The lake is less than a mile from the bustle of downtown and it provides a place of reprieve for all. The city has done a great job making this spot inviting. There is a biking/walking trail that goes around the lake which also extends through the whole city. Learning By Example Part II

The more time my daughter spends with her older (three months and four weeks) female cousins, the more she learns by following their example. My daughter seemed to have very little interest in sitting up on her own to play until she had a playdate with her four week older cousin. The two girls sat together interacting with one another for a good twenty minutes before going down unto their tummies.
