Shoes for My Daughter Part I

Since my daughter’s birth, a little over a year ago, I have been buying her shoes.  I never really worried about shoes for my son when he was an infant, but for some reason I felt that my daughter ought to have shoes to go with her cute little outfits, especially her dresses. The first I dress I bought for my daughter after she was born was her Christmas dress.  I bought it only a couple days before Christmas in utter desperation because that outfit that I had bought for this very special occasion was too big.   As luck would … Continue reading

Here is the Baby Blog month in review for October. October 1st Insect Repellent and Young Children Protecting my children is the number one priority, but one thing that I tend to avoid is insect repellent. A Guide to Baby Shoes

Over the weekend, I stopped by a baby store looking for a Melissa & Doug wooden play food set for a Christmas gift. Although the store didn’t have what I wanted, I noticed that there was a woman in the store who was pregnant and already shopping for baby shoes. The baby wasn’t here, obviously, but this new mom wanted to be prepared. There is good reason, however, for holding off on buying baby shoes for an infant, and even for a crawler or new walker. Here is why. Babies have feet that grow quickly. You may wind up spending … Continue reading

Clearance on Baby Clothes

Since so many of us are having babies right now, it seems very appropriate to bring you some great clearance deals I have found at some of my favorite stores online. This is a great time for new moms to stock up on things they need for their little ones. There are also some great sales on older kids’ clothes as well. I hope you have fun exploring these sites and save big with their great deals. Kohl’s has discounted many items 60%-80% off. They still have 99cent shipping going on till June 17th. In the infants department, they have … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Naming Your Baby

Have you picked out a name for your baby yet? Chances are that you have, if you are nearing your due date, but perhaps you just found out you are pregnant. It may seem a long way off until baby is here, or maybe it doesn’t and you are already frantically searching baby books. Either way, naming a person can be daunting as well as exciting. Some people have names already picked before conception, and for those people it is easy. I used to be one of those people. My first child was named before even being conceived. The child … Continue reading

Dressing Your Baby – It’s Not a Fashion Statement

I know I may offend some moms when I say the following, but I have never understood those parents who feel like they have to dress their baby up for everything. Little baby girls in dresses can have trouble crawling and are very unlikely to stay neat and proper the way they are dressed. Your baby also doesn’t need a shoe for every occasion. In fact, in my baby’s first several months of existence – she thrived quite well in onesies, footie sleepers and t-shirts. I didn’t buy her a pair of shoes until she was over a year old. … Continue reading

Shopping with Grandma and Grandpa Part II

On our shopping excursion with my children’s grandma and grandpa, I selected several pairs of shoes to be retrieved in two different sizes for my son to try. Once I had the first pair of shoes fitted, I asked him to walk around to see how they felt. He walked around and found a play area complete with a large train set. The shoes felt fine to him and he was more interested in playing with trains than trying on shoes; no surprise there! I coaxed him back and quickly tried four more pairs of shoes on him and hastily … Continue reading

Teeth

It kind of snuck up on me. My daughter was growing and changing and learning new things, but she was still toothless. I was pleased. I could wait for the biting and chewing to begin. However, anxious family members were asking me when I thought she would get her first tooth. Of course I replied that I had no idea but that I was hoping it would not be for a while. A while did not last very long. Not long after she reached six months her first bottom tooth broke through without any warning. She was not particularly fussy … Continue reading

The Rain

When my family was living in Texas we very infrequently saw rain. This was not entirely problematic. It was certainly a change for us though. The climate differences were many and we had to adjust accordingly. My wife needed new hair product. Our skin was noticeably drier. We were subjected to previously unknown allergies caused by previously non-existent pollens. Time after time, though, the climate proved to be so markedly different that we found ourselves missing certain things: rain, trees, green grass, and more. Recently we moved back north closer to family and the places we grew up. We’ve been … Continue reading
